Our Ingredients

Food-Grade

The most common industrial-grade skincare product ingredients are for soaps, oils, activated-charcoal, and clay.

We test all our products on ourselves, our friends, and our families, before we finalize the recipes for larger, handmade batches. Therefore, we never use industrial-grade ingredients, only the highest-quality food-grade ingredients that we trust.

Calendula

You may not recognize the name calendula. But you have probably heard of marigolds, which is the broad classification of the flowering plants found within this genus.

Aside from stimulating healing, calendula can significantly boost the appearance of your skin. If you want smooth, even-toned skin that glows with natural, youthful vitality, try our Calendula Soap.

Rose

While we may think of roses for their iconic deep red color, rose essential oil is naturally antibacterial and can help treat acne and acne-prone skin. Combined with its cleansing properties, rose makes an ideal ingredient in face washes and cleansers. Rose can also help reduce swollen spots or redness on your skin. Its calming properties can also soothe psoriasis and eczema.

Rose contains high amounts of vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that is difficult to find in skincare products naturally. This vital vitamin can help protect skin cells from damage, such as from staying out in the sun for too long. The natural oils found in roses help lock moisture into the skin, keeping skin feeling smooth. Rose is especially beneficial for those with sensitive skin, because the sugars in its petals create a soothing feeling just like they do for your fingertips. When used aromatically, rose calms and soothes the mind.

As a natural astringent, rose helps tighten pores and restore suppleness for a glowing complexion. Unlike conventional alcohol-based toners, rose leaves skin feeling velvety and even, not dry and unrefined. Try our Lavender Rose Body Oil to experience the doubly soothing benefits of lavender and rose.

meadowsweet

Meadowsweet

Meadowsweet is high in salicylic acid, which is well-known for its ability to relieve pain. It penetrates the skin to relieve mild to moderate pain and is especially suited for stagnant pain. A stagnant pain is in a fixed location, possibly with a pounding sensation. and for those with symptoms of heat.

Salicylic acid also exfoliates skin naturally by softening the top layer of skin cells, making it easy to be wiped off. These properties make it excellent for blackheads and whiteheads, but not necessarily acne because it's also antimicrobial. So, don't overdo it!

Our Nappy Rash Salve contains just enough meadowsweet for its salicylic acid to relieve the pain of a baby' rash, but not so much that it dries the baby's skin out. Other nourishing and moisturizing ingredients also support healthy skin for the baby.
